PAC 500 Bronze Anodized Aluminum

Petersen Aluminum Corporation has recently added "two-step" anodizing equipment. This process, acquired through license from Alcan International Ltd., enables us to produce architectural bronzes and black in coil form.

The PAC 500 finish is accomplished through a progressive electrolytic process. The metal is first anodized in a sulphuric acid bath. The material then passes through an electrically charged bath of cobalt mineral salts. The finishing process is completed as the metal passes through a sealing tank.

A complete range of bronze shades and black can be achieved through variation of the current through the coloring tank. PAC 500 is highly resistant to ultra-violet breakdown and exhibits weathering properties comparable to our hardcoat anodized sheet.

The coil anodizing capability allows us to hold extremely tight control over color range. Control over color range makes PAC 500 the finish of choice for curtain wall, storefront and batten roofing applications where an anodized finish is desired.

PAC 300 Clear Anodized Aluminum

PAC 300 Clear Anodized Aluminum consists of anodized quality 5005-H34 aluminum sheet, given a .0003 thick clear anodized coating. Coil anodizing allows for exceptional control over uniformity of appearance. Coil anodizing is not possible on gauges over.063. PAC 300 anodized aluminum is stocked in gauges .025 -.125.

Hardcoat Anodized (Duranodic®) Sheet

Hardcoat Anodized (Duranodic®) Sheet is available in gauges .032 to .125. Medium Bronze (312) and Dark Bronze (313) are available from stock in various sheet sizes. Light Bronze (311) and Black (315) are available on a more extended lead time.

PAC 500 vs. Hardcoat Anodized:

Petersen Aluminum Corporation stocks both hardcoat anodized and PAC 500 sheet. In specifying either product, we think the following features and limitations should be reviewed.

PAC 500 Advantages:
•Color range may be more tightly controlled than hardcoat
•Non-standard lengths available from stock
•Better formability
•No tong marks allows for full utilization of sheet
•Black finish available at no extra cost

Comparison:
•Gauge range: PAC 500 (.020 - .125) Hardcoat (.032 - .125)
•Coating: PAC 500: up to .000425 Hardcoat: .0008
•Lightfastness: Comparable
